The Instrument mixer is similar to the Sampler Mixer, but also offers per-layer FX inserts.
FX added to each layer will only affect that given layer, whereas FX added on the Master chain will affect the entire Kit's output. Aux Sends allow you to add processing to multiple Layers with more efficient computing resource usage than if you were to duplicate that effect across each Layer.
