Output Hub Error: Chosen Installation Folder Is Not Writable

In some cases, when installing Kontakt-based Engines using Output Hub, you may be prompted the following message:

What causes this error

This error occurs when attempting to install a product to a file path with heightened system permissions.

Avoiding this error

For the best experience with our Engines we recommend choosing a different folder such as your Documents or Downloads folders.

Examples of protected file paths

Windows:

  • C:\
  • C:\Program Files
  • C:\Program Files\Vstplugins
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

macOS:

  • Macintosh HD
  • Macintosh HD/System/Applications
