Distortion Box
Updated over a month ago

The Distortion Box is a module with 3 different distortion types: Clip, Overdrive, and Crunch. These introduce different types of harmonic distortion and frequencies for mild or extreme effects.

Distortion Box Controls:

  • Clip: Controls the amount of gain applied to the signal. You can choose from Soft, Hard, and Fold.

    • Soft: Clipping in which the signal is reduced once it hits a threshold (similar to a Limiter).

    • Hard: Clipping in which a signal is cut off once it hits a threshold. This creates distortion with pronounced higher frequencies.

    • Fold: Foldback distortion, in which a signal is folded back onto itself once it hits a certain threshold.

  • Overdrive: Controls the amount of gain applied to the signal.

  • Crunch: Applies distortion with more emphasis on the high frequencies.

  • HP/LP: High Pass/Low Pass filter allows you to shape the tone of the distortion.

FL Studio users: If unwanted Clip distortion occurs at 0% wetness, we recommend the following:

  1. Open Detailed Settings by clicking the cog icon in the top left corner of the plugin wrapper.

  2. Select VST wrapper settings.

  3. Enable Use fixed-size buffers.

  4. Select Yes at the prompt.
