Instruments are one of Arcade's two Kit types, alongside Samplers. They're chromatic, so you can play up to 88 keys of chords, melodies, and basslines instead of triggering fixed loops.
What Instruments include
Every Instrument is built from Sources: full-range recordings of a real or sampled instrument, mapped note for note across the keyboard. A piano Source might cover all 88 keys, while something like a flute may only span a couple of octaves.
Instruments can stack up to three Sources as Layers, so you can play more than one sound at once. Layer a sub bass under a pizzicato violin, for example, and both play together from the same key. Each Layer has its own volume, tuning, filter, and envelope controls, so you can shape every Source independently.
You'll find Instruments inside your favorite Lines, or you can build your own from Sources in the Source Browser.
How to get started
Browse and download Instruments the same way as any other Kit. See Lines, Kits, and Samples for how Instruments fit alongside Samplers, and The Keyboard: Instruments for how the keyboard and Musical Typing work once you've loaded one.
